Bridget Riley
Bridget Riley is a painter known for her pioneering work in Op Art. Born in London, England in 1931, she studied at Goldsmiths College and later at the Royal College of Art, graduating in 1955. Riley gained international acclaim in the 1960s for her dynamic black-and-white geometric paintings that create optical illusions of movement and vibration. She later introduced colour into her work, developing complex compositions that explore perception, rhythm, and visual experience. Representing Britain at the Venice Biennale in 1968, Riley received the International Prize for Painting. Her work has had a lasting influence on contemporary abstraction and visual culture.
