Jeff Koons is an American artist known for his glossy, large-scale sculptures that explore consumer culture and kitsch. Born in York, Pennsylvania in 1955, he studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Koons gained fame in the 1980s with works like Michael Jackson and Bubbles and his iconic balloon animals in stainless steel. His art blurs the line between high and low culture, sparking both acclaim and controversy. He is one of the most commercially successful and debated artists of his generation.
