JR

JR is a French artist known for his large-scale photographic installations in public spaces. Born in Paris in 1983, he began as a street artist before turning to photography, pasting black-and-white portraits on buildings, trains, and walls around the world. His work focuses on visibility, community, and social justice, often involving local participants. JR’s projects have appeared everywhere from the Brazilian favelas to the Louvre, blending art and activism on a global scale.
