Julian Opie

Julian Opie is a British artist known for his stylised portraits and figures reduced to bold outlines and flat colours. Born in London in 1958, he studied at Goldsmiths and emerged as part of the New British Sculpture movement. His work spans painting, sculpture, and digital media, often referencing signage, Pop Art, and modern life. Opie is best known for his walking-figure LED animations and album art for Blur, with his minimalist aesthetic now recognised worldwide.
