Katherine Bernhardt

Katherine Bernhardt is an American painter known for her bright, energetic works featuring everyday objects like fruit, soda cans, sneakers, and cartoon characters. Born in St. Louis in 1975, she studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and later earned her MFA in New York. Her large-scale paintings combine spray paint and loose brushwork, drawing influence from graffiti, textiles, and pop culture. Bernhardt’s colourful, chaotic compositions have made her a distinctive voice in contemporary painting, with exhibitions around the world.
