Lynette Yiadom-Boakye is a British painter known for her fictional portraits of Black figures, created with expressive brushwork and moody, timeless settings. Born in London in 1977 to Ghanaian parents, she studied at the Royal Academy Schools. Her oil paintings are based on imagination rather than real models, inviting introspection and emotional depth. Yiadom-Boakye has exhibited internationally and was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2013.
