Barbara Kruger

Barbara Kruger is a conceptual artist known for her bold text-based works that explore power, identity, and consumer culture. Born in Newark, New Jersey in 1945, she studied at Parsons School of Design in New York and began her career as a graphic designer and art director. In the late 1970s, Kruger developed her signature style, combining black-and-white photography with declarative captions in white-on-red Futura Bold type. Works like 'Your Body is a Battleground' (1989) have become iconic for their feminist and political messaging. Kruger’s art continues to challenge viewers through installations, billboards, and public spaces around the world
