About Ceramics

Artist ceramics bring together sculptural form, surface, glaze and the physical history of firing. Works may be unique, produced in small editions or created as artist-designed objects in collaboration with specialist makers.

Collecting Ceramics

Examine dimensions, edition or production marks, provenance and condition carefully. Small firing variations may be inherent to the process, while chips, cracks, restoration or instability should be documented separately.

Each listing records the available medium, dimensions, edition and signing information. Condition reports, additional photographs and worldwide delivery details are available on request.

Buying a ceramic artwork

Start with the individual listing: a unique hand-painted object, a numbered ceramic edition and an artist-designed multiple have different production histories. Look for the maker’s marks, signature and edition information where recorded. For display, consider the dimensions, weight and stability of the base as well as the image or decoration. Ask us for photographs of the underside and any condition details before choosing a work.
