Roy Lichtenstein

Roy Lichtenstein

Roy Lichtenstein was an American artist best known for his comic book–inspired paintings that helped define the Pop Art movement. Born in New York City in 1923, he gained fame in the 1960s with bold, graphic works featuring Ben-Day dots and speech bubbles. His art parodied mass media and consumer culture while elevating everyday imagery to fine art. Lichtenstein’s iconic style remains a symbol of 20th-century visual culture.
